SlovakAid

The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR) has started providing the official development assistance under the SlovakAid in 2003, when Slovakia ceased to be a recipient and has become a donor. This change resulted from the positive political and economic development as well as from the integration into strategic international structures (EU, OECD, NATO). Since 2003, the Slovak development agenda has been a long way forward and has become an effective instrument and an integral part of the foreign policy of the Slovak Republic. The Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic (MFEA SR) has managed to build an institutional, legal and strategic framework for development assistance. In 2007, MFEA SR established the Slovak Agency for International Development Cooperation (SAIDC), which according to its statute acquired the competencies of the administrative and contracting units – the Trust Fund (ACU TF) and the Bratislava-Belgrade Fund (ACU BBF) – which implemented project cycles as part of the official development assistance until the SAIDC was established.
